For many years, Jacotron A. Potts has served the community of Charlotte as a minister, mentor, innovative thinker, strategist, and communicator. He serves as a catalyst for innovative change, through offering solutions to both organizations and agencies across the state of NC.In 2010, Potts launched into entrepreneurship. He founded, ICAN: I Change a Nation - an empowerment company designed to help individuals and organizations tap into higher levels of innovation, creativity and empowerment. In 2015, Potts reorganized his business and launched The Potts Group,LLC., expanding the scope of empowerment services being offered.

The consultant, move-to-action speaker, and ordained minister has served in churches, businesses, non-profit organizations, as well as in the mission field with leaders in Brazil, Isiolo, Kenya and Nairobi, Kenya.
Potts, a Charlotte native, is the former talk show host of “BMA Live” and “Check This Out”. A sought out speaker, he has served as presenter for the City Symposium, and as a key speaker for Role Model Classic, 100 Black Men, Juneteenth Celebration, Martin Luther King Celebration, Teach for America, and the Fortune 500 company Newell Rubbermaid, just to name a few.

 He has received several awards for his community service including, the “Young Adult of the Year Award” by the Charlotte Chapter of the National Black Political Caucus, “Extraordinary Black Man Award” by the Black Man Can Institute, the “Servant Leader Award” from West Charlotte High School Athletic program,  the “Keeper Of The Dream Award” from the North Carolina Chapter of the United Negro College Fund and, the “Martin Luther King Jr. Growing the Dream Award”. Potts was a part of the 2010-2012 inaugural “Leaders Under 40” Group sponsored by the Community Building Initiative. Potts is also an honorary member of the National Technical Honor Society.

 Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Bishop Claude Richard Alexander, Jr., he currently serves as campus lead of The Park Church, Beatties Ford Road location. Known for igniting an audience to feel empowered, he does not take for granted any opportunity to serve people in large venues or small settings.

 In 2018, Potts self-published the STRONGER Curriculum, created impart to help teens find ways to strengthen their mind, body and spirits through eight daily practices. In partnership with the McCrory YMCA, The Potts Group launched the STRONGER Initiative in 2018. This weekly gathering, specifically for male teens, provides an opportunity for young middle and high schoolers to receive both a rigorous workout, strengthening their bodies, while receiving instructional teaching - where the eight practices are unpacked.

His most recent and proudest moment to date is being chosen as the 2019 recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Medallion Award, the highest honor given by the City of Charlotte for exemplifying the ideals of Dr. King.
Potts often states, “I may not be perfect at everything, but I will be perfect at never giving up.” This is what fuels his relentless passion to positively impact each and every person he meets.
